About 8 minutes

Four steps, all inside Shopify admin. Luria never edits your theme code.

What you'll need

  • Access to your Shopify admin, signed in to the store you want to optimize
  • Your store address in the form your-store.myshopify.com
  • The onboarding tab from luriart.com/onboarding open at Step 6, Go live. That step holds your place and ticks itself off as you go.

Step 1: Install the Luria app

Luria is a public but unlisted Shopify app, so it is not in the App Store. You install it from the link in Step 6 of onboarding, or from here:

Install Luria on Shopify

The link opens Shopify in a new tab. Log in if it asks, pick the store, and approve the install. Shopify asks which store, so there is nothing to type first. Come back to the onboarding tab and press I've installed the app.

Step 2: Approve the Data Processing Terms

Inside the Luria app in your Shopify admin, the One-time permission card asks you to agree to the Terms and the Data Processing Addendum. Press Agree & start syncing.

This one is not optional and not cosmetic. Until the current terms are on record, Luria will not serve or collect anything on your storefront. The onboarding step shows "Waiting for your approval in the app" and flips to Terms approved on its own once you have done it.

If we later update the terms, the same card returns as Updated data processing terms and serving pauses until you agree again.

Step 3: Switch the Luria theme app embed on

This is what lets tests render on your storefront.

  1. In Shopify admin go to Online Store, then Themes.
  2. On your live theme, press Customize.
  3. In the theme editor, open App embeds.
  4. Switch Luria on.
  5. Press Save.

Faster: paste your your-store.myshopify.com address into the onboarding step and press Open the theme editor. The deep link opens the editor with the Luria embed already selected and switched on, so your only action is Save. The Luria app home has the same button, labeled Activate tracking (one click).

The embed has three settings and you can leave all of them alone:

SettingDefaultWhat to do
Enable LuriaOnLeave on. Switching it off is the fastest way to stop serving.
Anti-flicker timeout (ms)250Leave at 250. It caps how long a page can stay hidden while a variant is applied.
Luria site ID (optional, auto-detected)EmptyLeave empty. Luria resolves your store from its domain, so you never need a site ID on Shopify.

Use your live theme

Switch the embed on in the theme that is published. If you enable it in an unpublished draft, onboarding warns you and tracking will not start.

Step 4: Confirm your first variant is serving

Nothing to configure here. Once the terms are approved and the embed has loaded on your storefront, onboarding ticks this step off by itself and shows the "Your first test is live" card.

Verify it worked

While the Go live step is on screen, onboarding asks Luria every five seconds whether your store has consented and whether the embed has phoned home from your storefront. When both are true, the remaining steps complete on their own.

You can also check inside the Luria app in Shopify admin. The Status card should read:

  • App connection: Connected
  • Tracking on storefront: Live
  • Data agreement: Accepted

A password-protected storefront is fine. The activation signal still reaches us.

For the deeper checks, see Verify your install.

Common failures

  • Steps never tick off. Enter your your-store.myshopify.com address in the embed step. Without it, onboarding has no store to ask about.
  • Embed enabled on the wrong theme. Onboarding tells you which theme it saw. Open your live theme's editor and toggle it there.
  • You publish a new theme later. The embed does not carry over, and tracking goes quiet. Switch Luria on in the new theme and Save.
  • Terms not approved. The engine stays off, no matter what the embed says.
  • Headless or Hydrogen storefront. Not supported. Serving is a theme app extension only, so there is nothing to switch on. Email hello@luriart.com before you start.

What happens if you uninstall

Removing the app in Shopify marks the connection uninstalled, deletes the stored access tokens, stops serving within about 60 seconds, and cancels any Luria subscription. Details in Uninstalling Luria.
